Ingredients
- 500ml milk, plant or dairy but not reduced fat in either case
- 4 pods of cardamom - crushed or 1/8 tsp ground
- 2 teabags - any kind, standard black tea
- Raw sugar
Instructions
- Add milk, crushed cardamom and teabags in a milk pot.
- Bring the heat up to a gentle simmer for few minutes.
- Take off from heat and set aside.
- Let the tea steep for few minutes.
- Scoop off any milk scum that may form.
- Add sugar (I have my tea without sugar)
- Serve immediately
Notes
- I used almond milk which was due to an overabundance of cartons in my pantry... But the sweetness of unsweetened almond milk made the sugar quite unnecessary, (I imagine rice milk would be the same).
- I like to break a few cardamom pods into the raw sugar in a small bowl and leave it on the side for people to serve themselves.
- Honey or agave make great alternative sweeteners if using dairy or other plant milks like soy or oat.
- It's easy to double the recipe, just use a larger saucepan and serve with a ladle through a mesh strainer.
