Sweet Shoyu Sauce - for Mitarashi Dango

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce/ tamari
  • 1 Tbsp corn starch

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, soy sauce and 1/4 cup of the water in a small saucepan.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup water and cornstarch until completely dissolved.
  3. Combine cornstarch solution with soy and sugar in the saucepan and slowly bring to a boil.
  4. Stir constantly until the mixture is quite thick but still of pour-able consistency.

Notes

  • this mixture will make enough for two batches of dango, generously.
